E-commerce Website Development Services

An e-commerce build is a series of decisions with money attached: which platform, how the catalog is structured, where checkout lives, and what happens to the order after someone pays.

We start with platform selection, because it is the decision that constrains every other one. Shopify for most US direct-to-consumer brands, WooCommerce when the store is an extension of a content business, headless when performance and front-end control genuinely justify the operational cost. Catalog size, variant complexity, B2B requirements, tax jurisdictions and your team's technical comfort all feed that call, and we write the reasoning down so it can be revisited later on evidence rather than memory.

Then the build: storefront, category and product templates designed to rank as well as convert, search and filtering that works at your catalog size, and integrations for payments, shipping, tax, inventory and fulfillment. Checkout gets specific attention — guest checkout, wallet payments, honest shipping costs shown early, and every step instrumented so you can see exactly where carts are lost. Launch includes the redirect map, product schema and analytics wired to revenue rather than pageviews.

process

How E-commerce Website Development Services work

Step 1: Scope & architecture

Pages, templates, URL structure and integrations agreed in writing before anyone opens an editor.

Step 2: Build in the open

Work lands on a staging URL you can watch. Weekly check-ins, not a three-month silence.

Step 3: Test on real conditions

Core Web Vitals on a throttled mobile connection, keyboard and screen-reader passes, cross-browser checks.

Step 4: Launch & hand over

Redirect map, analytics, Search Console, then documentation and a walkthrough so your team can run it.

E-commerce Website Development Services FAQ

Shopify, WooCommerce or headless?

Shopify for most US DTC brands — the operational burden is lowest and checkout is excellent. WooCommerce when the store sits inside a larger content site you already run on WordPress. Headless only when you have the engineering capacity to own a decoupled front end; it is a real ongoing cost, not a free performance upgrade.

How long does an e-commerce build take?

Eight to fourteen weeks for a typical store, longer with complex integrations, B2B pricing or a large catalog migration. Catalog data preparation is consistently the piece clients underestimate, so we scope it explicitly rather than assuming it will be ready.

Can you migrate my existing store and keep its rankings?

Yes. Full URL inventory, a redirect map covering products, collections, blog content and legacy patterns, staging QA and daily monitoring through the first weeks. Migrations lose organic revenue when nobody does that work, not because migration is inherently destructive.

Do you handle the SEO side too?

Yes, and it is designed in rather than added later — URL structure, category architecture, product schema and performance budgets are build decisions. Our e-commerce SEO service picks up from launch with the ongoing content, link and optimization work.
